Our Companion Dogs for Veterans Program:

Our Companion Dogs for Veterans Program is a special initiative designed to both
find loving homes for our rescue dogs and provide meaningful companionship to
military veterans. As a veteran-owned 501(c)(3) organization, Rockin’ “P” Rescue
is uniquely positioned to understand and support the needs of our veterans
There is no cost to the veteran to receive a dog.

Each dog in the program receives comprehensive care, including vaccinations,
spaying or neutering, and microchipping, ensuring their health and safety.
Additionally, they are equipped with essential items such as a collar, leash, and a
cozy blanket to help them settle into their new homes.

We’ve established a mentorship program to support veterans during the transition
period. Each veteran participating in the program is paired with a dedicated mentor
who provides guidance and support, ensuring a successful adjustment for both the
veteran and their new canine companion.

Offering dog grooming, training, and specialized activities like “nose work” scent
training for veterans and their companions will have profound benefits for both
parties. It makes available a meaningful activity for veterans, strengthens the bond
between them and their dogs, and helps them develop new skills while having fun.
Plus, having fellow veterans as trainers adds another layer of understanding and
support. It’s a wonderful way to give back to those who have served and to enrich
the lives of both humans and animals.
